Details to pay attention to when building a swimming pool

Details to pay attention to when building a swimming pool. The pools should be kept full of water in all seasons. All concrete isolation, coating and curbing ma

1 – SPOIL

The spoil will be relocated according to the spoil management plan and the inclination of the pool without causing soil embankment, at a minimum of 100 centimeters outside of the final wall forms and allowing for an easy execution of the work detail. If filling is required to improve terrain infrastructure, the soil compaction will be applied with cylinders in 25 centimeter wide layers.

2 – DRAINAGE INFRASTRUCTURE
Drainage construction is absolutely necessary to keep the rain and underground water away from the pool and maintain a stable pool infrastructure.

3 - MOLD REINFORCEMENT SYSTEM
YWire reinforcement system will not be used as reinforcement system of the swimming pool vertical wall forms and reinforcements will be made with the help of external bracing elements.

4 - CONCRETE TRANSITION PARTS
Concrete will not be poured without the necessary concrete transition parts and waterstops shown in the project in place in the floor of the pool, wall forms, balance tank and engine room bulkheads’ floors and ceilings.

5 - GALLERY
A minimum 80 cm wide installation gallery should be built outside the pool wall forms. The outer surfaces of the gallery formwork should be isolated with polished screed and bitumen emission using a steel trowel. Swimming pool raft foundation and shear wall concrete should be TS500-B20-B225 quality concrete prepared with impermeability additives.

6 - READY CONCRETE OR-IF UNAVAILABLE-REINFORCED CONCRETE
Concrete should be poured after being prepared in a granulometric quality concrete plant with a concrete mixer and being compacted with a vibrator. It is appropriate to pour the raft foundation and wall forms in close sequence. Concrete pouring on the wall forms will be done in 25-30 cm layers. Attention shall be paid to the height measurement in vibration. The vibrator head will not touch the first vibration zone. The sequence of operations and concrete will be as shown during concrete pouring.

7 - PLASTER - SCREED
Before Screed and Plaster is applied, dust, concrete, grease layer and mud traces on concrete surfaces will be washed; The surface will be cleaned with a wire brush and the adherence condition will be fulfilled by ensuring that the plaster fully adheres to the concrete. Lime shall not be used in plastering works.

It is appropriate to apply steel trowel polished screed with a dosage rate of 400 on the outer surfaces of the pool floor, engine room and installation galleries’ shear walls. The floors of the plumbing fitting galleries will be sloped towards the engine room (transverse and longitudinal slope) and screed will be applied. After the plaster works are done, the gaps in the plaster will be checked, and the squeaky places that give a hollow sound will be broken and plastered again.

8 - ENGINE ROOM BALANCE TANK
It is appropriate for the inner surfaces of the engine room and balance tank bulkheads to be covered with white tiles for cleanliness and appearance, and for the floor of the engine room to be furnished with light colored (white) tiles or ceramics. A window or a lid must be left available for cleaning the balance tank.

9 - ISOLATION INFRASTRUCTURE
Isolation infrastructure of the inner surfaces of the pool, which has been designated for isolation, should have a concrete surface or have the appearance of cementitious plaster polished with a wooden trowel. There should be absolutely no dust or grease layer on the surface. The environment must be clean in order for the isolation material to adhere well to all kinds of surfaces.

10 - INSULATION SYSTEM
A two-component, sliding type insulation is recommended on plumb surfaces and base, on which mortar production can be made. In the areas with capillary cracks, if any, and in the base and corner joints, an isolation application should be made with a special putty net.

Isolation should be applied with mastic in the gaps around the concrete transitions, and with a net in the base wall corner joints and plumb corner joints, however, an excessive thickness should not be created so that it does not interfere with the coating. Imported sealing materials that fill the capillary spaces of the concrete and permeate into the concrete are also recommended.

11 - WATER TEST
After the water insulation of the pool, it will be filled with water up to the upper mouth of the pool and the balance tank, and a water leak test will be carried out.
Pool interior surfaces should be covered with BTB, glass, mosaic, ceramic, PVC foil or paint using either imported or domestic material based on the shape and size of the pool form.

12 - ENGINE ROOM WORKS
While constructing the engine room, the following points should be considered.
a. The door entrance and landing ladder should be large enough to fit the filter.
b. Reinforced concrete balance tanks should be built in pools with overflow channels.
c. Clean water line entry and distribution should be as follows;
I. Engine room washing water tap line should be placed,
II. It should be connected with a valve between the pump and the sand filter in the pool filtration fitting,
III. In pools with overflow channels, a connection should be made to the balance tank with a valve and a float.
d. Supply line input should be made with sufficient cross-section of the electrical panel.
e. Discharge hole and water discharge line must be at least 200 mm wide.
f. Lighting (E type caged, sealed type light fixture should be placed.)
g. Ventilation holes should be in sufficient number and size to provide natural air circulation.

13 - GENERAL NOTE
Pools should always remain filled with water in all seasons. All concrete insulation, coating and curb materials should be kept under the same tension.
